The unknown is dangerous. It’s scary and should not be\nmessed with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And yet we know we must. Every day is filled with\npossibilities, and we don’t know what will happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On a good day, that’s really exciting and wonderful. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On a bad day, it’s terrifying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What is going to happen today? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the world of pandemic today, a whole lot of us know what\nis going to happen. I am going to stay home. I will take a walk and not breathe\nthe air of anyone but my family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
How boring. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
How stressful. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I don’t know what will happen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
When will this stay-at-home thing be lifted? What will this\ndisease do? And what will happen to the world because of our measures? What\nbusinesses and what people will be left?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I don’t know. No one knows yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In my job, I have to take high-powered executives through\nthe process of a project. Something they want done needs to go through the\nprocess from start to finish. And always always there is a snag along the way.\nSomething that we didn’t expect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It’s my job to take that unknown and wrestle it into the\nplan. But while it is still unknown I have to talk to all the people working on\nit. The high-powered execs want to know “What is going on and will you fix\nit?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I have to make the unknown look small and fixable. Mostly\nthis is done in two ways:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Review what has already been\nsuccessfully completed<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pick the very next task to work on<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I spend a lot of time and energy on this for my customers at\nwork. I am resolving to do it for myself too. I don’t have to do all of it\ntoday. Just the next thing. Look how I’ve already come so far!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
