The Last Mile of the book

Kindle says in 72% done with A Dance with Dragons: A Song of Ice and Fire.

I’m ready to throw it out the window. I am almost certain that this 5th book in the series is not going to pay back the effort I’ve invested in it. I am almost sure the author is not going to make good on all the stories he began to tell.

SOME authors do. Dickens was famous for it.

But George R.R. Martin is no Dickens.

I may be wrong. I’ve been wrong before. But I am only finishing this book of duty now.

  1. I can’t bring myself to start it. It’s been too long since the 4th book and I feel compelled to re-read all of the other books before starting this one. But that’s too daunting a task.

  2. Jay! Thank you for leaving a comment on my re-launch of the site!

I finished all of it last night. Don’t. It’s a huge tease, a promise unfulfilled. I repeat:
George R.R. Martin is no Dickens.

  3. Alright. I’ll give it a try. It’s on my Kindle now.

    …kindle is AWESOME….

But yes, the Game of Thrones series did not end well at all. It will lead to a future blogpost, when I can find the time.

See, now, finishing this series had me thinking I should go back to the ‘canon’ of great literature again. There must be a few pages of those tomes I have left unturned…GoT has left a bad taste in my mouth. Where was the triumph? Where was the heroic adventure? bad guys won WAY too much for my taste. I have real life if I want to read about bad guys winning…

But, I’ll give your farseer trilogy a try. May it be triumphant..
